The development of international trade and the necessity to secure international or transnational exchanges demand that lawyers and businesses gain a better understanding of customs law and its practice.
A less known and technical field, customs law lies at the heart of these exchanges as it encompasses :
> Determination of merchandise characteristics (origin, value, and classification),
> taxation of goods : direct, indirect, and excise duties,
> organization of supply chains and logistical schemes,
> domestic and international market access.
The International Commission of the Marseille Bar Association invites you to explore the evolving role of Customs in response to new economic and social challenges :
> Traceability of flows,
> environnemental protection,
> data control,
> standardization of European law.
These issues will be addressed by professionals (lawyers, academics) from various countries through roundtable discussions that encourage cross-pollination of customs practices.
